The concept of the book was captivating, with the potential for the use of letters and transcripts to add a unique touch. I appreciate an epistolary-style narrative occasionally. However, the book's impact was lessened by the lack of distinct character voices, causing the letters to merge into one another and the characters to seem indistinguishable. The absence of time stamps on the correspondence also made it challenging to discern the timeline of events.

The depiction of the underwater environment and its inhabitants was the highlight of the book. A more in-depth exploration of this element could have held my interest for a longer period. The book concluded, leaving me desiring further development and answers to numerous questions.

My initial enthusiasm for the book was met with disappointment. It's disheartening because the book's premise is intriguing, and it boasts an impressive cover. Although the author's style did not resonate with me, I acknowledge that it may appeal to other readers.

I think this would be great for someone else. The story being told solely through letters is a bit much for me and just isn’t my cup of tea. However if that style is this is really nicely written and does have a compelling story that I’m sure will shape into a really good series.

I thought this was delightful. I loved the format of letters and email correspondence (and later a transcript) being the entirety of the novel. I loved the characters, I liked that the main character was socially anxious and OCD in a relatable way. I loved the mystery of the main character’s disappearance and how it was built up and the same for the questionable circumstances about the main characters sisters expedition. The mysteries were alluded to and like a slow burn revealed as the novel progressed. I didn’t want to put it down, and will definitely be reading the next installment!
