I wonder how I'm supposed to feel after reading this. According to the back cover of my edition, and if I were American, apparently this text is meant to make me feel "patriotic". I only assume that word is now being used as a synonym for "uneasy". Because that's exactly how I feel.

Yes, the events of this novel and the presence of the 8th juror was fortunate. However, all I could think of after reading was this could have easily gone the other way: a room of jurors, say, believing the accused to be not guilty, could have potentially all chose to convict because of one good orator.

Am I supposed to feel satisfied with the events of this novel? Protected? This play honestly disturbed me. And I think it was supposed to.

I definitely recommend this and would love to see it performed live one day.

Re-read this play with fiancé, having fondly remembered it from high school. Doesn't have the same exciting energy as an adult, but also a fast read

This book/play is all about critical thinking and looking at things objectively. It’s one of those stories, I feel, that will be relevant so long as humanity exists. We are all emotional creatures, and feel impassioned by our experiences and things that have shaped us into who we are, but sometimes, matters require us see past the emotion and the bias and to incorporate our logistical nature. Having someone say that this is “fact” should not be where the discussion ends, we must learn to operate in three-dimensions and that will lead us closer to the truth. I will think of this play always and will see it everywhere. Bravo!

An amazing movie and an amazing play. Really gets you thinking. Everyone should read and/or see this!
