I started this book last summer and then got caught in a whirlwind of back to school activities so it sat put aside for almost a full year.

When I got back into it, the back and forth kept me engaged and I was wondering how I was supposed to feel and about whom.

One thing I love about this style of novel is that it really keeps you wondering straight to the end and even once you find out the details of what went down - there’s a little extra twist that I didn’t anticipate.

It was a really enjoyable read

I was going to give this a 3.5 because it didn’t hold my attention the first time I picked it up a couple years ago, but I finished the rest of the book within like 24 hours of picking it up again. It earned the 4 especially toward the end as the mystery spooled out and we saw all the pieces. For anyone who wants a bit of a mind bending mystery full of toxic familial relationships.

Hmmm, it was fine. It kept me reading and I read quickly. But once again we have an unreliable narrator and a very dysfunctional family... which can be really difficult to read about.

3 stars!

it was good, but that was about it. i did read it really quickly but it was just one of those books that was short and easy to listen to on 2x+ speed lol

it wasn't the writing that was a problem for me. in fact, it was pretty good. however, the plot was what kind of kept me from completely enjoying it. it was a very convoluted plot, which was unexpected. like many thrillers, there's the big twist at the end that makes the rest of the actions that already took place "make sense" but i didn't really feel like the twist made things make sense lol if that makes any sense

i didn't really like any of the characters. the main character, cass, felt a lot older than she actually was (which was 17, btw). she was written very much like a full-grown adult and that just doesn't make a lot of sense to me, especially considering her past.

there were also SO MANY characters. there were brand new characters introduced after the 75% mark????? completely unnecessary and left me so confused. maybe that's just me lol

ok i'm done talking about this book it was just ok!

I'm really starting to think that my idea of a thriller is not the same as everyone else..? I consider a thriller something that gets my heart racing, makes me afraid to turn off the light at night, etc. If you go into this having that expectation, this book will be a huge let down. Is it a mystery? Absolutely. But is it a thriller? Not even close. I wanted to know what happened, was invested in that, and thought the story was interesting. But I wasn't on the edge of my seat, my heart wasn't racing, and I wasn't scared.

Two sisters disappeared three years ago and one returns with a story of kidnapping. But! It’s difficult to know if she’s telling the truth.

This book just didn’t hit for me. The storyline was confusing and I couldn’t keep characters straight. Plus I didn’t like that the story was told via stories from one person rather than letting us as readers experience it. It made the book a bit boring at times.

This was a really good book with a good plot!
