Another BOTM read that was shockingly good!! It was hard not knowing the full picture but the end result was worth it. Would recommend!

I finished Emma in the Night this morning, my first read by Wendy Walker. I really enjoyed this story and the writing!

Cass and Emma go missing, and three years later, Cass returns home. Alone. I loved reading about the psychology behind this crazy, dysfunctional family and trying to figure out how it was going to end. It was more of a slow burn, told with alternating viewpoints of Cass, the younger sister, and the forensic psychologist assigned to the case, Abby.

I was just approved for Walker’s next book, The Night Before, so hopefully I can get to that one soon too!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

there were wayy to many descriptions in this! the story felt like it was being told to us word for word the whole time and in books, you dont need to do that. the reader will be able to understand without been spoonfed the plot.

This book was amazing!

I listened to the audiobook of this one while driving and I literally couldn't stop listening. This was such a good listen and kept me intrigued. The story line is so interesting and once you reach the twist, I was absolutely shocked! I would seriously suggest that everyone read this book. I also really enjoyed that the story is told from two different perspectives.

An unsolved mystery of missing sisters and one returns unharmed a few years later. The story is told by Cass, one of the sister and Abby the forensic specialist that was assigned to the case. We learn about Cass and Emma through the past POV and the present with Cass and Abby's POV. I loved how the story unraveled and my heart broke for Cass and Emma with their dysfunctional family. I their mom is one of the most hated character I have read.

THIS. Wow. Read it.

This book left me stumped on how to review it. The overall premise was good and I liked how the story came together, however, I'm not sure if  I was just distracted or bored but I couldn't engage with the story of the characters so I was not completely engrossed in the story or even bothered by the characters.

Emma in the Night is told from different points of view first from viewpoint of Cass, the sister who has returned 3 years later and she has a disjointed story about where she and Emma have been to tell. Then there is Abby, the forensic psychiatrist who has been working the case since the sisters first went missing. Who has a story herself but its not really revealed and her point of view often read like a student essay discussing narcissistic behaviours.

I did finish the book as I needed to know if Cass story was real or made up and I had to know what happened to Emma. I had so many of my own ideas throughout the book. Most often wrong but I did guess near the end.

The blurb is intriguing but the execution did not quite live up to expectation. The pace was slow, the story of a narcissistic mother was repetitive. I will forget this story quickly. So quickly I'm struggling too write a review.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would and loved the fact that I didn’t know what was going to happen next. My only critique is that the characters were not easy to connect with.
