The characters where flat tropes, the world building sucks, half of the time i didn't know what was happening, and the author tries to make up for that fact that all of the names are confusing by putting a key in the back stating who each person is, to shirk from the responsabilities of actually writing a book that makes sense. It was super slow paced and I would not have read the entire thing if I didn't have to because of a book club. I read another book from this author and it was great, so maybe this is just a fluke, but I honestly am now a bit wary of any books by her. Definately do not recommend unless you like absolutely no depth to characters and confusing world building with a boring, just plain bad plot.

I wasn't totally sure what to expect but I really enjoyed this book. The ending had some sad stuff I didn't love, but I'll be reading the next.

I struggled to keep up with what was going on, which is understandable given that it's fantasy. But by the end, I still didn't grasp a lot of things, and the plot twist did not really hit. I'm not sure if it's my fault or the audiobook's, but I see potential in the story. That being said, I'll probably reread it before the second book comes out.
