Remarkable

I am left speechless. I don’t think sexual assault and it’s consequences regarding life afterwards, could ever be better articulated. Thank you for writing this book- I echo other women who found this book to be an awakening we didn’t know we so badly needed.

wow. just wow.

i’ve been wanting to read this memoir for a while now, so i was really happy to finally get my hands on it. everyone knows about the stanford case and the media fiasco that followed it. i really appreciated hearing chanel’s side of the story.

let me just start off by saying that this is a must-read. i truly believe that everyone, regardless of gender, should read this book. while the topics touched upon in the memoir are heavy and difficult to digest at times, it’s something that needs to be acknowledged and spoken about. i can’t tell you how many times i had to pause after reading a particularly hard-hitting sentence.

chanel’s writing is beautiful, by the way. she is so incredibly talented. if you don’t want to read the book for memoir purposes, you should definitely read it for quality purposes, because it contains some of the most fantastic prose i’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.

i’m well aware that my review does NOT do the book justice, so let me just repeat: READ THIS ASAP! you won’t be disappointed.

(lastly, on a more personal note, i’m sending chanel so much love and support and i hope she goes on to lead a beautiful, successful life ❤️)

I wish Chanel Miller never had to have this experience, and that we could have been introduced to her incredible writing for a different reason. She writes beautifully and powerfully, and listening to her read the audiobook version of this was all the more moving. In writing this, she has undoubtedly given voice to the pain and heartbreak and loss of so many victims. She is a force of nature.
