so unbelievably upset that it took so long for me to read this. was only vaguely aware of it during its peak tumblr days, and if ANYONE had mentioned this is a fucking TREASURE HUNTING SERIES i would have devoured it YEARS AGO

Even though the plot is kicked off by Blue Sergeant’s prophecy, The Raven Boys is about so much more than her not being able to kiss the boy she loves without killing him. A real ensemble book where said Raven Boys are on the hunt for Glendower - a lost ancient Welsh King buried somewhere along the Virginia Ley line.

I really enjoyed this take on Welsh mythology. I loved the setting and how that influenced the characters. And speaking of, I found each and every one of them so distinct and wrapped up in their own troubles. I’m a sucker for well-rounded characters that I can invest in, and I found that with this book. The group dynamics were so strong, and dialogue (which I believe to be super important with a big cast) flowed well. 

Even though I have a physical copy, I  listened to the audiobook edition and loved Will Patton’s narration. I think it likely added a lot to the experience, and so I’m keen to continue this series in that format. 

The plot is simple yet gripping, and the prose is clever. I can’t wait to see where the group goes from here.
