At first it was hard to get into it, but after a while I totally fell in love with it!
The writing style was great, really! It's always easy to read further, I couldn't stop myself from time to time.
Also the characters were lovable and in my opinion understandable.
But still don't know how to feel about the story, tho. I think I might reread the last part of the book, because after all that part was hard for me to fully understand.
Nevertheless I recommend giving this book a chance, I will definitely continue reading this series.

I love all of the characters (especially Ronan <3). The plot was interesting and I loved reading about the raven boys + Blue trying to find the king as each character developed and built themselves off of the others. Especially with Adam and hearing his perspective on things and how his awareness changes (trying not to spoil lol).

I also might steal Chainsaw tbh. Better keep those windows locked Ronan.

I ended up taking this book out of the library simply because I was looking for an audiobook for my bus commute to school this semester and I remembered hearing that this book had received good reviews. So I figured, why not?

I wasn’t really sure what this, book was about when I picked it up. A psychics’ daughter and a group of private school boys. My best guess was that this was going to be a like a supernatural version of Gossip Girl.

Boy, was I wrong.

The best way I have of describing this book is it’s like a young adult urban-fantasy adventure story… almost ala National Treasure… but without Nicholas Cage (I hear you all complaining about the proposed lack of Cage, but hear me out). There is adventure and mystery and a passionate treasure hunt for supernatural and hidden energy. There is magic and murder and mayhem. And most of all, this book is written and drawn out so beautifully. While all of the turns and surprises didn’t completely shock me, the road to discovering their truth was fascinating. The characters are drawn so well, and the setting was breathtakingly vivid.

I also have to applaud the audiobook narrator on this one. He did such a good job with the accents (the story is set in Virginia and many of the characters are described as having a drawl to their voices) and with the different tones as the POV switched by chapter. His husky voice brought chills down my arm as he emphatically whispered the name of the ancient Welsh King “Glendower” as Gansey.

I’m thrilled that there are 2 (soon to be 3) more books in this series, and can’t wait to dive in to the rest of the story.

“In that moment, Blue was a little in love with all of them. This magic. Their quest. Their awfulness and strangeness. Her raven boys.”
