I’ve been reading this book series since elementary school and Brandon and Nikki STILL haven’t confessed their love for each other officially

I’m not rating because I’m well past the age of target audience but I will review it because I loved this series when I was younger. The first books were a lot better and I didn’t really enjoy the last few books but I was so excited for a Paris adventure. To my disappointment, Nikki doesn’t even arrive in Paris until halfway through the book. As always Nikki is such an awful character, but that’s just how it normally is in these diary type graphic novels. I did not enjoy it and I guess it’s finally time to stop reading the books because I may be getting to old for it. Maybe I wold have enjoyed it more as a preteen but also I wouldn’t let my kids read a book with such a bratty main character.

One of my favorites in the series; Nikki really explores her personality outside of the expectations she’s been locked in at school.

I know I've been complaining about how some of the other books in the series feel filler-y, and though this one is no exception, there's also a certain amount of fun in it. Like, you know what? Yes, I would like to read about all of the main attractions in Paris that you visited, Nikki. And yes, the drama is still recycled and over-the-top, and yes, Nikki is still the same overthinking protagonist we all know, but this book doesn't take itself too seriously and as such, I'm not going to harp on it that much.

This gave me so much nostalgia for 10 year old me. Can't believe I'm older than Nikki now.
