I am a huge Hilda fan. Loved the graphic novels, enjoy the Netflix adaptation. I cannot get enough of this little blue-haired girl and her big adventures.

This book roughly contains the first two graphic novels' worth of content with some added scenes and descriptions. In the spirit of the graphic novels, the illustrations are printed in minimal color (yellow, brown, gray), which worked very well. The illustrations are lovely, closely resembling the style of the Netflix show. They pair well with the narration of the book.

Overall, the writing is fairly straightforward with some wonderful descriptions. At times, information and dialogue is added to compensate for the decrease in artwork from the original graphic novels. For the most part this worked well.

I did feel that some of the dialogue was awkward and a bit off at times. There were points that appeared to completely switch Hilda and her mother's personalities and times when I felt for sure Hilda would not say such a thing. It is an interesting blend of the graphic-novel-Hilda and the Netflix-Hilda. There were a few times the narration got repetitive and it really felt like the author was trying to hit a certain word count. This did not detract much from the story though.

On the whole, I enjoyed this book and liked getting a different view of Hilda's adventures. Will certainly be continuing this series, because as I said, I cannot get enough of Hilda.

A little blue-haired girl works with different creatures so she can stay at her house with her mother. Great illustrations and a good read-along chapter book. some of the words might be a bit big for the youngest readers.

Sin haber visto la serie o leído los otros libros, quede fascinada con esta historia tan interesante y graciosa.

La calidad del libro físico es una maravilla.

Hilda lives in the valley where she is a friend to all the creatures, often sketching the creatures and scenery. Unfortunately, the elves have sent another letter telling them to leave, or they will face violent eviction and the destruction of their home. Never having been able to see the elves, Hilda never knew that her home was right next to an elf city. Hilda tries to reason with the elves, wanting to find a way to stay in her home because the alternative is very undesirable. If they can't stay in the valley, she would have to move to Trollberg!

Will Hilda be able to solve the issues between her family and the elves? Or will she be forced to move to the dreaded Trollberg?

This was such a fun audiobook to listen to. The narrator and cast did a wonderful job of pulling me into the story, and I absolutely loved the voice of Hilda. She was such a spunky kid who was not going to let anything stand in her way once she made a decision to do something. With this book as the introduction to Hilda, I look forward to listening to the next book in the series.

Hilda was one of my favourite series growing up and with the Netflix adaptation, I delved back into it. This was a heart warming book. I will say that it is aimed at kids, but I still found it enjoyable

Hilda lives in the woods with her mom. She has a cozy little life, but is surprised when she meets some not-so-mythical creatures and learns lessons about home, friendship, and nature. This absolutely became a favorite series and one of the best books of 2020 because the stories and illustrations are so charming and...woodsy, it's like taking a fairytale hike. I dislike that this is advertised as "based on the Netflix series" when Hilda was around first, it should be the other way around, but essentially this is somewhat of a "retelling" of the original comics and what became the first two episodes of the Netflix show. I still need to get the other copies to make comparisons, but overall, I read this without watching the show or having read Luke Pearson before and I fell in love!

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.
