Before you go into this, understand that this book is a literal diary. It is written in diary form, almost like little tweets before Twitter was a thing. But it is a fascinating look into the career of an actor and how often they are juggling multiple roles. He also doesn’t hold back on his thoughts about other actors, films, and the entertainment industry in general, both good and bad. I thoroughly enjoyed this and felt like I got an inside look at one of the most iconic character actor of our times. Alan Rickman is greatly missed by so many who loves his performances for decades. For me, his career is for Always.

Made me feel like I personally knew Alan. Hard to read at first, then you begin to enjoy the imagery that happens throughout.

Okay admittedly I didn't read this in its entirely but let's be real here I only wanted to know Rickman's thoughts on HP and the HP movies and HP actors and such. Also Rickman did not always write in completely sentences (understandable, given that these are his diary entries) but reading many many pages of incomplete sentences makes my brain angry. But, Rickman wrote with a fantastic sense of humor, did laugh in the silent library at work, luckily no patrons were nearby.

An interesting look at some of Alan Rickman’s most famous years. I loved hearing about all of the casual interactions with other famous people, but my favorite entries were the everyday stories where he wrote beautifully about his time with family and working in the garden. A life cut too short, in my opinion. Not a book you read in one sitting; definitely one you ”sip” on over time.

I loved this, thought it was beautifully edited and offered insights into an incredibly talented, thoughtful and all too human being. I'm just incredibly sad I never got to see him perform live on stage

I wanted to love this and I love him, I just don't think the diary entry way of writing is for me and I would have loved to read more about his childhood and life

If you’re going to state in the introduction that you’re not sure whether a dead man would want his diaries published; do not publish them.
