This book is definitely best read in small doses, rather than a binge read. Brian Blessed is a very entertaining man who has lived a life, and then some. I took his advice and imagined him reading the book to me which brought the stories to life and there were several bits that really made me LOL (as the kids say). I loved the fact the Brian is clearly a larger than life, kind, funny and generally optimistic person and his anecdotes were funny and entertaining. However after a while he started to sound a bit big headed - apparently pretty much everyone he has ever met just loved him. I found it a bit odd that there was absolutely no mention of his first wife and daughter but who knows, he no doubt has his reasons, but it did feel like a glaring omission.

I loved this. If you get the chance, get the audiobook as read by Brian Blessed because it is pure joy. He is such a good story-teller, full of passion and enthusiasm. The only bad thing is that it ends. GORDON'S ALIVE!
