Emma Chase

I don't get it. Everyone loves this book and thinks it is so funny and charming. Frankly, if I hadn't read Sustained (which I really enjoyed), I would never read Emma Chase again. I don't mind a douchebag asshole who gets a redemption story... but this one was rough. I almost DNF and should have.

Drew is a playboy. He doesn't deny it. He's used to getting what he wants and it usually doesn't take more than a charming smile. Enter Kate Brooks, a new hire at Drew's father's investment bank firm. Brilliant, beautiful, and full of ambition. He's hooked from the first time he sees her. There's just one problem: she's also engaged. But that can't stop Drew. Not until the influenza hits. Or at least, he'll tell you it's the flu, but we all know that's not what it really is.

Tangled is a unique read in the erotica realm as it's told completely from the male POV. I wouldn't have chosen it as GR choice for best debut author of 2013, but the majority has spoken. As with all first person narratives, liking or disliking the MC will make or break your reading experience. I am on the fence about Drew Evans. He's pretty much the stereotypical frat boy. He's a misogynist most of the time and other times contradicts himself by toting feminist ideals. Basically, he's a huge hypocrite and he makes no apologies. He also has quite a flare for stalkerish behavior and can't take no for an answer (which is at times really disturbing and, no, I would not want to be in Kate's shoes). I'm not sure if his stereotyping and generalizing the male population is part of his character or the author's own take on how men think, but it made my eyes roll so hard that I thought they were going to pop out of my head. There were a few sweet moments and there are a few moments when Drew looks like a likable character and he's funny (although his humor definitely borders on offensive most of the time). He's a big ball of frustration basically and dangerously charming.

All of that being said. It's a really engaging book. The narration has a very conversational tone that had me hooked even though I wanted to smack Drew over the head for being such a condescending idiot. The sexy bits are probably some of the best written and non-repeative that I've seen in a long while. If only Drew would shut up. And if the book could get a different cover, cause yikes...

I loved my time spent with Drew. I really liked that this was from his POV.

I LOVE DREW, HE IS JUST THE MOST ROMANTIC AND FUNNIEST GUY IN A BOOK I HAVE READ! Their love story is just so sweet, and it made me cry at the same time

Actual rating: 2.5/5 but rounded down to 2/5

Cómico, entretenido y muy fácilmente puedo imaginar un chick-flick de este libro.

It's cute. it's ok. I like the make pov. the writing style was interesting. I'll try some more by this author. like I said, cute. nothing earth shattering. this could be your fun summer read though.

fun having the males POV

Loved reading from the guy's POV. He was pretty hilarious!!!

WOW loved this one it had me laughing my ass off at some of the things that came out of Drews mouth. Loved how it read like I was watching a movie of the whole thing playing out in front of me. adding this to my lists of books that are gonna be re-read forever.
