The tv adaptation was so so bad. This book is much better. It's amazing how Miss Marple studies human emotions. Even a single makeup

4 - Miss Marple’s wit and cleverness will forever be unreachable.

A good Marple. Kind of weird ending.

I particularly enjoyed this one, because there's a bit of humor in it. I also especially enjoy Miss Marple. The old lady's a criminal genius!

Miss Marple is called by a friend to help solve the mystery of a dead body found in her library. Miss Bantry & her husband don't even recognize her, so Miss Marple not only needs to find the poor girl's killer, but how & why she ended up in the Bantry's library, too.

Just when I thought I was getting Christie & able to better guess the killer &/or motive...she goes & writes The Body in the Library! I had no idea who the killer was, how, or why they did it! Totally stumped!

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as Murder at the Vicarage, but it was still quite interesting enough. I think this one is more about plot than character-building (of course, this one is relatively short). Mind you, I’ve only read four Christie novels so far, two Miss Marple and two Poirot, but this one didn’t seem to have the connection among the characters that the others did. Miss Marple didn’t feature as prominently in this one as she did in the first one, and I just didn’t find myself able to relate to these characters as well. But overall, the plot was strong and there were enough leads to throw me off so that I wasn’t able to correctly guess “who dunnit.” This is not my favorite, by a long shot, but it was still a good read.

I liked this book! This one was way better than the first in the Miss Marple series. I could still use more Miss Marple in these novels, but in this one, people actually sought out her opinion and insights and her skill as an amateur detective was appreciated and relied upon. Besides that, I found this plot much more compelling than the first one. And I always love a little Jessica Fletcher-esque entrapment scheme to reveal a murderer’s identity. Like the Sherlock Holmes books, I enjoy that these novels hold back information so that it’s not actually possible for the reader to guess the culprit - it takes the pressure off!
