Another simple and fun story. I've been reading all my favorites from the Joan Hickson days. The tv version was a little more involved but I did enjoy the lighthearted way this one ended and found I liked the character of Adelaide a lot more because of it.

This was my first Agatha Christie novel and I have to say I did really enjoy it! I liked the switching between viewpoints and how very vivid her characters and settings felt without either being overly descriptive (also the way she described characters appearances was very dryly funny). A quick read with a fun murder mystery at the core. Great to pick up if you want a short but engaging little read
Oh Agatha Christie. Clever, witty, funny, and always a good read. As usual, this was a good novel. One of the earlier Miss Marple novels (there may be one too many small town references..) this is a good quick read with a great mystery.
Don’t forget the humor
It takes a re-read of her books to remind me just how funny she was. The banter between Dolly and Arthur Bantry when the maid announces a body in the library is the stuff of modern situation comedy. Then, that clever author makes a classroom assignment into a fully realized story. Wit, intelligence, observation. And, Miss Marple, my favorite of the characters.

Aside from the modern Miss Marple short story collection, this is my second Miss Marple book.
It's interesting to me how Agatha Christie puts Miss Marple more to the background in the stories that i have read. By contrast, Poirot is usually witness to -- or called in to investigate -- the crime. Miss Marple observes and investigates from more of a distance. Is this Christie playing with the invisibility of old women?
While Miss Marple is the central character, she doesn't seem to be the main focus throughout the book, which is very interesting.
I thought that I had this one sorted, but I didn't!

This was really good, fascinating and of course really well done. I have a hard time NOT liking Agatha Christie's mysteries. They are so addicting and mind puzzling.
Who better to write mysteries than a Virgo ;) She's fabulous!
Thrilling until the very end.
