I still feel like the relationship between Kitty and Ben feels more like one of convenience. Her visit to Cormac in prison seemed to reinforce that. I like all three of them, however, and am glad that Kitty has finally been able to return home.

It wasbetter than I was expeting. I was a bit worried as it is a latter book in a seires I had read none of. But will be looking into the rest some time. glad I sait it in the 2 for 5 stack that day and deside to give it a try.

Good read with interesting characters that were fully developed. I like the direction of the story line and characters.

Of course I won't miss my sister-in-law's next book. I think we have an advance copy at home, but I like to wait until it comes out on the shelves.

1/25/08: I read it so fast it never got updated to be on my "currently reading" list. It was great. I love watching Carrie's writing evolve through this series. I re-read her first book in preparation for this one. Silver Bullet works as a stand-alone, but you will understand the characters so much better if you know them from the beginning. Contrasting Kitty's growth between books 1 and 4 was so rewarding and the payoff of seeing her come into her own was totally worth waiting for. This is her best book yet.

Books keep getting better.

The story comes full circle, and it was such a pleasure to read and see how much Kitty has grown over the course of these novels. This one is even more action packed than the others, if that's even possible. Couldn't put it down!

Kitty and Ben, establishing their new pack-of-two, are called back to Denver when Kitty's mother falls ill. While Kitty tries not to get involved in the power struggle going on between Denver's vampire population (ably assisted by the local were pack), this doesn't last long, and both her new found pack relationship and her family fall under threat.

I can't help comparing Vaughn's Kitty series to Charlaine Harris' Sookie series, and I find Vaughn's characters and stories much more compelling and better written than Harris'. (Although Harris blurbs Vaughn's books, I get the impression from Vaughn's blog regarding her pet hates about urban fantasy that she's not such a fan of Harris'.)

Kitty has come of age. We have watched Kitty grow from being a pup and being afraid of almost everyone to being a strong female worthy of being the alpha female. Whether or not she embraces it is for my fellow readers to see. When I started reading the Kitty books I enjoyed that they were light reading but they progressively gotten a little darker, and you know what I don't mind a bit.

I am still on the fence with her relationship with Ben, I can't help but feel if Cormac the hot and dangerous wonder wasn't in prison she might just become involved with him and I see this relationship with Ben going the wrong way somewhere. Why is it women like dangerous guys. If you haven't picked up a Kitty book do it because they are good fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last book, Kitty Takes a Holiday, with the caveat that although all the shocks and twists entertained me, I didn't actually like one of the plot developments. So I decided to go straight to the next book to see if it was just a temporary place holder, or something more permanent.

Well, it's permanent, and not something I can easily accept. I think Carrie Vaughn has made an epic mistake with her characters. She set up one potential plot line beautifully, then turned you in a completely new direction, with no set up whatsoever, so as a reader you're just like 'you're kidding, right? I mean, seriously, not really. Say it ain't so!'. So much so, that I did what I almost never do, which is to peek ahead at reviews to see how long it lasts. And unfortunately it looks like it's as permanent as permanent gets. So I have actually made the decision at this point not to read any further, which is really sad considering I gave the first four books 4 and 5 star ratings. I just don't think it's good for my health or sanity to read something that's going to annoy me from here on out.

I'm sorry this review is all so very vague. People that have read it will know to what I refer (I hope). And I would never spoil it for those that haven't. Or maybe it just doesn't bother anyone else. Who can say?

But for me, for the moment at least, it's goodbye Kitty. *sadface*

4 Stars! ★★★★

Yay!

I can't coherently write what I feel about this without spoiling things so I'll sum it up with one, possible job spoiling word: yaaayyyyy!!!!!
