Reading Harry Potter is like returning to an old friend; one that stays constant in your life, no matter how much older you get, how much you change, or how much has happened in your life. When J.K. Rowling proclaimed that no matter where you go, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home, she couldn't have been more right. I still remember the thrill of reading this book for the first time--I was probably in about fourth grade and had borrowed the book from my school library. It was a hardback edition, and at the time it felt massive (I know much better now, of course). There was a certain sort of excitement trying to figure out who the Heir of Slytherin was, who was petrifying everyone, and who the mysterious character of Tom Riddle was. I was captivated by the book, truly, and even now--years later and completely in on the context of the book and the series in general--it's a wonderful read. There are books that I loved as a children, but if I were to go back and read now, I'd be bored stiff. But no matter how old I get, and no matter how much my taste in literature changes, Harry Potter is constant. And I love that.
