- The text is divided into two plotlines: present day and '74/'75. I enjoyed the present day parts much more, mainly because the other plot was absolutely full of slurs and -isms.
- ...which is realistic for the police force in Atlanta, Georgia in the 70s, and one of the themes of the book are race and gender issues in the police. Still, it wasn't for me.
- The nature of the crimes is pretty unique and interesting, and i liked the last third of the book with all its turns and tense scenes the best.
- Overall: Probably gonna unhaul this one as soon as i need space on my shelves, apart from a couple of action scenes and some moments with Amanda Warner it didn't work for me.
Graphic: Addiction, Confinement, Cursing, Death, Drug abuse, Drug use, Gore, Misogyny, Racism, Rape, Sexism, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Blood, Kidnapping, Religious bigotry, Murder, Sexual harassment, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Alcoholism, Domestic abuse, Gun violence, Physical abuse, Sexual content, Torture, Vomit, Antisemitism, Abortion, Death of parent, Pregnancy, and Alcohol
Minor: Ableism, Adult/minor relationship, Cancer, Child abuse, Self harm, Suicide, Terminal illness, and Suicide attempt
While murder, injury and rape are prevalent over the entirety of the book, most - if not all - of the slurs, discrimination and sexual harassment take place in the sections set in the 70s.fbzreadswhatever's review against another edition
