A deep dive into the heart of one of Slaughter’s most complex and seemingly uncrackable characters, this books sizzles. Time jumping between present day and 1975, some of the language and situations are disgustingly vivid as much for their tone as for how little time has shifted the treatment of women and minorities by police today. An incredible journey.

This is the first book I have ever read by Karin Slaughter.
It was rather tough at times to stick with the story because, the plot constantly jumped from the 1970s to the present day, along with a ton of characters that seemed to pop up all over the place...this made the story rather confusing sometimes.
I was hoping for a twist at the end, but unfortunately that didn't happen. It was an average story, and not a bad read but it is not the best crime novel that I have read either. I also found it hard to sympathise with the main character "Will", in this story for some reason.
Anyway, I assume Slaughter's other books are better?

Ok so, congrats i guess, you got it, this is officially the book that made feel nauseated.
I do really enjoy this series, and to a point I get that it's not for the faint of heart. But at what point is it too much? The violence we read in this pages was unlike anything I can comprehend and maybe that's why I can't suspend my disbelief and "enjoy" the ride in this one.
