I had already liked this series, but I think this was my favorite book yet. Louise Penny has such interesting reflections on human nature and life.

Yet another lovely installation in this incredibly cozy, wonderful series. I think this might have been my favorite story yet. The overlap of original characters with a transportation to an equally cozy and atmospheric, but different setting was fun. I also loved getting more of Armand and Reine Marie in this book. 4.5 stars.

A Rule Against Murder was a really compelling murder mystery set at a hotel in rural Quebec. This was my first Louise Penny novel, and it was really excellent. The characters were beautifully crafted, the setting described in detail to where it was easy to visualize, the clues laid out and resolution of the mystery exceptionally well done.

I loved how the title was tied into the story, which I didn’t notice until the end.
I love a closed circle mystery, especially when it’s at a vacation resort. This one has a lot of suspects and I was kept guessing as to who and why.

It took a bit of time to get to the actual murder. Still, I enjoyed getting the backstory on Peter (a character that I haven't liked)--although I felt like his treatment was both too harsh and then too easy. I'm curious how his character is presented going forward. Altogether, I feel like the series is picking up and I'm excited to keep reading through it.
