Truthfully the only reason I didn’t DNF this book was because I had access to both the physical copy and audio format so I could read the whole thing in only a few hours.

Unfortunately I just really didn’t enjoy this book. I found the main POV character quite dull and her romantic relationship wasn’t very interesting either.

The writing style left a lot to be desired for me as all the emotional points and character development felt very surface level for over 80% of the book. The short chapters would trick you into thinking it’s a fast moving plot, but really alot of it felt so unnecessary and just felt like padding.

The plot overall was okay - though did feel like it took a while to get into, and whilst I didn’t 100% predict the ending as such - I had predicted a pretty large part of it by the 35% mark

(that at least one or more of the main characters are dead - granted I thought it may have been the MFC - but I was still very close)

so by the end of it all I felt very underwhelmed.

I feel so conflicted? I was genuinely lost the entire book, and then the ending happened, and I was like actually it all makes sense now but still, I feel like the pacing could’ve been better, and I can’t believe it took that long to know what the hell was going on. I enjoyed the characters and the twist was certainly something but I don’t think it was worth putting myself through I just didn’t understand the point for majority of the book.

The short chapters made this a very quick and moorish read.
The plot twist was executed well and looking back there certainly were several hints that I can’t believe I missed.
I do feel like the twist would’ve hit much harder for me however if the characters were more interesting; ultimately i don’t care that much about what may happen to them since they were almost all quite 2 dimensional.

An easy and engaging summer read!

It was difficult to distinguish all of the characters in the story sometimes but the twists and turns were unexpected! Sad story with a death trigger warning.
