-I liked the movie too (I watched it before reading, wouldn't recommend that) but it was reallyyyyy different from the book
-I love Abby, Bram and that one teacher!
-I was pissed of or mad quite often tbh ahhhh
-I don't like Leah.
and the way she tried to make Simon's coming out about her pissed me of so fucking much, god damn, and I hate Marzin too ofc

-Simon's horny 24/7 lmao
-
I didn't like the easy use of the f slur at all like why and it made me feel uncomfortable/ weird, I crossed them out.

-The taste in music in this book <33
-I kinda had the feeling in the end that the author needed to finish the book asap, kinda rushed
-very cuteeeee

I'm reading this after I've seen the movie years ago and I'm not sure whether I liked the book better or the movie as most people tend to like book.

Anyway, if my memory serves me right, these are what I found:

- that book Simon comes across as more self-absorbed and cowardly than movie Simon
- The email exchanges between Blue and Jacques are funnier and sweeter on page
- that the secondary characters in the book feature more prominently on page except I like Simon's parents more in the movie
- book Martin is more hateful than movie Martin
- the movie is fluffier than the book

What I generally like about the novel is the wit and the heart of it. There is a diversity of characters, and maybe because of this, they are not as multidimensional as I had hoped.
I didn't mind the angst but I'm also a sucker for grand romantic gestures like in the movie. Hence, I probably found the end a little bit underwhelming.

If I had read the book first before watching the movie, I probably would have rated it higher, but alas I did not.

Update: So I watched the movie again after reading the book and I must say that I like the movie better as it is more fleshed out and well-rounded. Also it gave me more feels as in Simon's struggle  were more palpabable and that Martin is an still an ass.

A major part of the story is about drama and theatre. Personally love that.
