Wow, this book really had some twists to it. We are also left off on a slight cliffhanger that makes me so sad, but I’m dying to know more. I loved finally getting to understand Embry a little bit better in this book. He is such a tragic and tortured soul that my heart just broke for him for all the secrets he keeps. I won’t say the decisions he makes at the end of the book, but I really hope he doesn’t go through with it. I have a feeling the next book will be full of tears.

I did get kind of annoyed with Embry’s back and forth and his tortured emotions. It got kind of old by the ending. I get why he wouldn’t give himself what he really wanted throughout his life, but there wasn’t a bunch of dynamic character change throughout his book. Maybe we will see more in the next book, but that book is from Ash’s perspective so I’m not sure we will get the full understanding of it.

Despite getting annoyed at Embry’s behavior, this book was as beautifully written as American Queen was and has even more thrilling action and romance. This book was absolutely full of interesting plot and the next book (also the last in the trilogy), American King, will likely be the same. Do note that there are some themes in this book that are triggering, definitely read the content warnings.

I absolutely recommend this book! It was a phenomenal, but dark read. I loved every plot twist, no matter how weird or horrible they were. We left on a thrilling cliffhanger to the last book in this trilogy and I’m stoked to start it.
