Oh boi, is this a good read. First, if you like Terry Pratchett, I feel like this is one of his best book.
If you are not familiar with this author, but you like either military humour or sensical non-sense, you are also in for a ride. The story is great, logical, the ending is VERY satisfying and the book keeps getting better each chapter. I busted into laughter in a train despite my shyness. love it, 10/10 would forget it to rediscover it again.

I’m torn about this. I loved its examination of political/religious propaganda (especially in wartime or in service of conflict), and I loved the way it pokes fun at and takes down gender stereotypes. I loved its diverse characters and the little cultural glimpses each one gives us, from trolls to Igors to vampires.
And I loved the slow reveal of each character. But the middle of the book draaaagggged for me. I felt like it needlessly meandered on its way to the ending and the various reveals I loved so much. And yet I gave it 4.5 stars, so…

This was the first Terry Pratchett I'd read since childhood and it was a perfect reintroduction to the series.
Woman-led and unapologetically feminist, it brings that distinct Pratchett charm of being both incredibly funny, and using that humour to deliver a one-two punch of important messages and themes.
