There's better discworld novels but worth a read
funny lighthearted medium-paced

The satire is more heavy handed than I'm used to from Pratchett but it is still an excellent story.

Pratchett's feminist novel about the Army written in the midst of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" era (for LGBT recruits) speaks to a lot of themes regarding society norms, how women are treated, the role of women in society as well as the ridiculousness of war. The only thing really tying this book to Discworld though is Commander Vimes who intercedes towards the end. A fun book with lots of good humor.

I never thought Discworld could be this gay. I loved this book and I love Mal.
