Overall a really captivating read. Happily recommending it. The build up led to a really fast resolve witch took it down a star but loved it generally.

Started of strong, has good pacing and funny characters. I couldn't understand how it was rated below a 4 on bere until I got to the end. The ending felt very rushed, suddenly things were resolved and it was... done?

Very much enjoyed that! It was crazy how spot on it was, but incredibly unputdownable for just being slack messages? Fun and zany, did not expect that. I learned about dusty stick for the first time! Used it at work today and no one reacted. I’ll try again tomorrow.

Slack notables:
-The way everyone has their own tone, but are still inconsistent (capitalizing, punctuation)
-The way you can picture the timing of overlapping messages when someone says the same thing because they were already typing
-The workaholic boss who’s like “I’ve got a dentist appt but I’ve got my phone on me so I’ll only be unreachable for 15-20”
-Tripp was hands down my favorite, not only because of the way he, like me, uses all caps for emphasis, but he cemented it by correctly placing the period before the end quote at the end of a sentence. Bravo

Spoilers: I’m still confused about Lydia. And I didn’t expect that ending?? 😍

Super quick fun read! I think it starts out with a very interesting premise, drags in the middle, but then has a very interesting ending.

Slackbot had more of a personality than Gerald

Devoured this in one go. For a book that I wasn't sure was gonna translate into an audiobook I was SUPER surprised. I would actually recommend reading the physical copy AND listening to the audiobook cause the performance was incredible and really actually added a lot to it, I think. hearing the TONE of certain people in a book where it's all through chats was a strange experience but gave it more depth I think.
Anyway the book itself? I was captivated honestly. It's FUN. It's really really fun. I was laughing out loud at a lot of bits of surrealist humor. If you're sitting here like "idk man trapped in slack sounds like a one note book how will they stretch this out" you'll be pleasantly surprised like me.
The length is perfect for the story I think, there is some real cool formatting choices, some questioning bits that make you wonder what exactly is going on beyond the obvious. And the fact that it's in a work program means that there is this sharp contrast of alarming content and then people brushing it off so they can work - which is INCREDIBLY realistic, I really appreciated that.
If you like weird, modern, surreal humor (a la Corporate Nightvale) I definitely recommend this. It was a great morning for me, listening to this.

This was fast, silly and fun!  Told completely through Slack messages was a real treat.  I laughed multiple times.
