This was very cute. This author writes anxiety and trauma pretty well where it’s relatable and understandable but not so overwhelming that the story can’t have a happy ending.

After enjoying Emily Henry's books, I wanted to try Abby Jimenez. I chose this one at a book store staff member's recommendation because she said it was her favorite of the series and the best anxiety representation she'd ever read. This book had me hooked for about 250 pages, then it started to drag a bit. The issues in their relationship started off sort of cute, tension-building, and understandable then just became frustrating for maybe 50 pages. I enjoyed the story overall, though, and will likely try another Jimenez.

I appreciated the portrayal of Jacob's anxiety, and loved how Briana naturally responded to it. I didn't love seeing Jacob sometimes get steamrolled by his family - yes they were loving, but also overbearing. I also honestly don't understand why everyone was so up in arms about his ex getting together with his brother, when she and Jacob had clearly not been a good match.

I had some issues with the pacing and struggled with keeping track of the passage of time. I wish the letters had been dated, or there had been other clear markers between events. Questionable decisions and lack of communication aside, I was won over by the characters' chemistry and care for each other.
