I totally loved reading this book! It was such a cute story and when something happened with the pictures and something between Ava and Sam, I could not stop reading. Ava was such a lovely character and I fell in love with Sam! Thereby, I really loved the Christmassy atmosphere this book has, so five stars :)

4.5*

At first I wasn't feeling the chemistry, but ended up loving Sam and Ava. Touches on some serious topics and had some really beautiful moments. Really needed a cute holiday romance and this did it for me! Sped through it

I haven't read any chick lit in a while, but this was a lovely read for something lighthearted after needing a break from work. Really up to date story in it's themes and well written. Definitely going to buy more Moorcroft books for holidays in the future.

I love the cover for this book. It immediately makes me think of this different mish mash of houses in London. I guess that’s the aim though as it is set in Camden… Hmm… Pretty though, and a big sense of wintery feelings.

While a good storyline, I didn’t really like the characters the way I thought I would, except for Sam anyway. He seemed to be the only one with any real depth or sense of reality. Ava came across as a little naive but also independent, strong willed and determined at the same time. I can’t pinpoint what it was I didn’t like, but she slightly irritated me. Maybe it was the fact that she just wouldn’t accept help without an argument? Izz was a bit of a hard one to figure out as well. On one page she was awkward, the next she was this overly confident sassy woman. Tod wasn’t involved enough for me to even form an opinion of and I sensed he had his own story to be told. I loved Sam’s Mum and his Aunt, they oozed fun and with, sarcasm and a real family feeling which this book slightly lacked.

The writing style was quick and easy to read. Nice, short chapters and a sense of where things were going. While touching on a theme that is very relevant in today’s world, it handles it brilliantly. It even gives advice in its own little way. It makes if clear that it could happen to anyone and that it isn’t their fault. You feel the sympathy for Ava over it all and you really feel that she thinks its her fault and that she will be judged in an awful way. Lucky for her, her friends understand and support her through everything.

What I did really like about this book is that it gives you an update on Sam’s mum and where Ava and Sam ended up in their love story. It really was a happy ever after ending. I wish more books had this little update page, especially when you don’t know what has happened to some of the characters.

Ava Bliss is a milliner, she makes hats, which requires some serious skill and she has her own business, but she is struggling to make ends meet. Not only that she has a horrible ex boyfriend making threats and it's nearly Christmas, something that doesn't hold dear to Ava. So when Sam Jermyn walks into her life, things may just start to turn around for Ava.

Despite the title of this book, this story isn't quite as lighthearted as it sounds as it deals with some hard issues like revenge porn which I have never come across in fiction before, and it definitely opened my eyes to this issue. It is dealt with very sensitively and you really understand what a horrible situation it can put people in. There was something very modern and up-to-date with this story, particularly around the issues of the power of the internet and how it can work in your favour or turn against you. There is also the struggle that Ava faces trying to get her business off the ground and you really can't help but feel for her especially as she is so talented.

I found I warmed to Ava quite quickly, but she did frustrate me a little, especially with the faux dating, but then I could understand why she was so reluctant to start a new relationship with someone. I also found the hat side making of things really interesting and did do a bit of googling with each hat she was making or describing. The supporting cast of characters was a real electic mix and I found that I particularly liked Ruby, the lovely WAG who had got on the wrong side of the press. I would have loved her to be my friend.

It isn't all hard stuff though as at the center of it all, there is there cosy loveliness that comes with it being Christmas time. There is also a lovely Christmas setting and it has definitely got me in the mood for the festive season. There is also light humour running throughout which brought a smile to my face and it didn't once feel like too tough a read.

A lovely festive read to curl up with over Christmas.
