Okay, my rating has gone up hugely. Mal is better (Though I still have my mixed feelings), and I love all the other characters, no questions asked. The Darkling’s character went 📈, and the ending is something to prepare tissues for.

Siege and Storm ended with Alina defeated and struggling for hope; Ruin and Rising is her journey figuring out how to move forward. Things are dark in Ravka and every move the Sun Summoner’s party makes is on a razor’s edge.

People die. Some friendships are strained while others are shown to be steel and the fate of Ravka is decided. Without spoiling anything, I can say it is an intense ride! I read it in one sitting.

Bonus Points: Queer content treated like its normal where none of the known queers are buried in the end.

I really enjoyed this last book in the trilogy and the series as a whole.
I liked the pace of the story, I loved all the cool settings here and am happy that there was so much wandering around without slowing the plot down or making it boring (at least for me). I liked the characters and how they bonded and became friends. I liked the witty dialogues and the banter between them. And I actually liked the ending.
I wouldn't say the trilogy is perfect or groundbreaking, but it warmed my heart and helped me escape reality really well. (And I can finally watch the Netflix show! :D)

3 hours 30 minutes - This was a well-written, engaging conclusion to the series. It contained good plot-twists that seem to come out of nowhere but make sense once you think about it. The characters mostly seem realistic, although there were times where I felt some improvement could be made.

A down gread from s&s but still very good. Mal is finsoy useful and has a personality!!. The plot did drag a bit. But with all said and done, a unsatisfying but logical ending, everything was tied up nicely but it will leave you a little unsatisfied. Very much enjoyed though
