the book feels kinda pretty little liars-esque with the "oh he is father but not really and the step mom of the daughter is actually not blah blah" LIKE BRUHHH so confusing for nothing???? Also everything getting resolved after a few games of chess?? No

This is probably one of my favorite trilogies I‘ve ever read.
The entire storyline was totally enjoyable and kept me interested!
I loved how the mysteries never got bored and always got me hooked up again.
There were so many twists and turns and nice plot developments.
Unfortunately wasn’t the final gambit as good as the other two books, but it still didn’t disappoint!
(btw proud to say that I‘m team jameson since day1!)

it was a fast read ngl. I really liked the pool puzzle and the ending, I think it was quite fitting for Avery.
I really did thoroughly enjoy this series even though I have a lot of negative critique for the book.
For one, the romance in this series didn't really do it for me. It felt lukewarm (maybe until The Final Gambit). I also wasn't a huge fan of Greyson or Jameson. Both were flat, predictable, one-dimensional characters in my opinion. One was stereotypical hard-working, feels responsible for the whole family type of guy. And Jameson's only character trait is that he likes adrenaline? Meh...
Xander, Nash, and Libby were way more fascinating, and I would've preferred more of them.
Another thing that bothered me about the series is by the end, I was getting sick of the surprise family members they didn't know about. I was losing the thread of who was who's kid etc. It also became less of a novel discovery when it happened every few chapters.
Lastly, I felt the epilogue was a bit unrealistic. I'm sorry but billionaire, ivy league children becoming bartenders and car mechanics? I get that the author was trying to show humility, but to me it seemed kind of a sad, disappointing end for them, and a waste of great potential.
Other than those points, I thought it was an exciting, page-turning easy read. I enjoyed the new adversary. I also thought the final reveal of why Avery was chosen to be quite juicy and unexpected, yet quite fitting to the late Tobias's personality. It was a great reveal.
