Loved the premise but it seems slow, I didn't get hooked.
Love the perfection as a weird scary thing, but it wasn't enough in my opinion.

3.5 stars.
I can't pinpoint my exact feelings about this book, but I did like it. It's not my typical read, but it was super interesting and I like the themes that were explored. I think I would have liked more from the ending though.

It's not as addictive as the books from her that I read before, but it's a great story nonetheless.
I like books that weave the story around an interesting twist. The twist in this is that Hope slowly develops the power to be forgettable to anyone she meets. She uses this ability to start a successful life of crime until she stumbles into a major tech conspiracy that forces her to choose between selfish needs and selfless needs. Well-written and constantly twisting your mind and expectations.
I received a copy of this via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is a very unique and intriguing story. Hope is a fascinating character, who uses her ability to be forgotten as soon as she is out of view to become a thief.
The horror of having everyone you have ever known and loved forgetting you exist and the mundanity of introducing yourself to people who ask the same questions day in day out is a fascinating part of the story. Dealing with one person who forgets you would be bad enough but imagine if it's the whole world!
The app Perfection is a great addition to the storyline, and frightening because it seems entirely possible.
A really great, thought-provoking story, I recommend this highly!

This is the story of Hope, a woman people don't remember. When I first started to read this book I was expecting some kind of thriller (¿?) Really, I don't know why. But even its plot it's a very interesting one, it's no thriller.
Basically, Hope uses her ability to help other people get rid of a new app called Perfection. Perfection tells you what to eat, where to go, what to wear, the company you should keep and everything it's based on a punctuation scale. Every time you do something Perfection wants you to do, the app will reward you with points that you can exchange for luxury experiences or designer clothes.
And this book could've been awesome if the plot had centered more into this pre-dystopian world, but we get stuck with the anxieties and insecurities of our main character. We get a slow paced narrative in a character-centric novel and I was really bored almost the whole time. I even skipped paragraphs!
The worst of it it's that we don't even get an answer of why is she the why she is. What happened to her?
So overall, it was a great novel (if you like character driven plots) but I felt I was reading over and over the same 50 pages and it was a very tedious read.

adventurous

It's official by now. Any book of Claire North's is going to automatically be one of my favorites.
Hope Arden has a gift (or is it a curse? who knows) where people don't remember her at all. They meet her and a few seconds later they forget her. She shows up just fine on videos and photos and people still forget her if they don't look at it for a couple of minutes. Kind of annoying for those pesky interpol officers chasing someone who they can't remember. (she's a con artist. what a perfect jon)

3.5 stars. Overall pretty good read. Very interesting character. The consequences and lack of consequences of her actions were interesting. Certain scenes were a bit clunky, but as I said overall a good story.
