It sometimes tipped a little to the other side of popular science, got a little technical in places and I struggled to fully understand some of it. But all in all, an absolutely fascinating book!

For me a fascinating introduction to how early modern humans may have populated the world. It describes tools, techniques and recent discoveries in the field of archaeology and genetics which show how humans have spread over the globe.

So this took my a while to get into, but when I did it was very fascinating and helped me to feel more human. It feels fresh to read this after having read sapiens by Nohari, which provides a very black and white view. I feel Alice Roberts provides a more nuanced picture of the history of modern man, setting out what we theorise, but also giving space to opposing views.

Really interesting but all the scientific language made it hard to read.
