3 1/2 stars

Neve and Kit have been married for a long time and she is a stepmom to 14 year old Poppy who has special needs. She loves Poppy like her own but longs for her own child, though Kit who lost Poppy’s mom at childbirth is not keen . In order to get over their differences they decide to spend a weekend on their boat but Poppy goes missing in the night and neither of them can remember what happened . While Kit is trying to find Poppy he comes across Neve’s past and he realizes that her past mistakes may have finally come back to haunt them.

Schoolgirl missing by Sue Fortin is a fast paced psychological thriller .A little predictable with unlikable characters and though I have enjoyed the authors other books this one was a little too unrealistic for me

I would like to thank Harper Collins , HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Really enjoyed this book!! I’m the type of reader who normally gets the theories in from the first couple of pages, but this book has so many twists and turns! It was brilliant! Had me gripped right until the end!

Neve and kit, husband and wife, are having marital issues - Neve wants a child of their own together and Kit does not. Poppy - Kits daughter, Neves step daughter has special needs and Kit feels another child is not the answer. Poppy goes missing after a night spent on their boat. Both parents seem to have no idea what went on that night and the search for Poppy begins. Secrets from Neves past slowly come to light - bringing up tragic occurrences from her young adult life.

Overall I did enjoy the book, however found it to be slightly unbelievable in parts. I had decided on one person being the culprit and then another. The ending for me left a few questions unanswered. I would recommend this to read as it is a clever story. I look forward to reading another from this author.

I'm far from being a professional book reviewer and give ratings almost solely based on how well a book kept my attention and how predictable the plot was.
This book wasn't terrible, but I've definitely read better. It held my attention, and I did like how the chapters switched between the husband and wife's perspective. However, the plot was semi predictable, and I just wanted there to be more to what was going on.

I have been wanting to read this book for a while and the cover definitely caught my attention. It is a story full of twists, turns and definitely unexpected, shocking outcomes. I would never have guessed at all. Very cruel and devious. Full of secrets, lies and deceit.
An easy to read, fast paced thriller and mystery. Kit and Neve are as bad as each other! I actually loved Jake and Lucies characters. Jake didn’t deserve what happened to him. A real page turner of a read… I found myself getting very angry towards the end and outcome I just don’t understand how someone could do that to Poppy for their own sake… Poor Poppy my heart was with her the whole time.
I awarded four stars and would highly recommend.

Before I get into things I'll start off by saying, I really found it difficult to rate this one! I had to think about it for some time afterwards and I feel this is the right rating.

Schoolgirl missing is a psychological thriller about a fourteen year old girl with SEN named Poppy who goes missing after spending the night on her father's boat with her father and his partner (also her adoptive mother) and basically trying to figure out who took her, where they took her and why!

The general premise of the book was absolutely fantastic, I couldn't wait to get stuck in! The problem I hate to say, was the overall execution. I found every single one of the main characters to be extremely unlikeable, now don't get me wrong.. I'm partial to an unlikeable character, they can make for a super entertaining read, these characters on the other hand, over step the mark completely! They are some of the most self absorbed, disgusting and evil people I've read about so far!

Again, I really didn't hate this book, I just didn't love it either and I thought there was so much potential for it to be such a great book, if only there was more suspense, more of a thrill!

Thanks to Netgalley and harpercollins for the e-arc of this book, I gave it 3 stars!

Having really enjoyed The Birthday Girl previously by Sue Fortin I was excited to read Schoolgirl Missing. Although it was fast read, it was a little bit disappointing. I found the story to be a bit all over the place, with so many despicable characters - I could not like any of them.

Neve and Kit's marriage is a little unstable to say the least. She is stepmother to 14 year old Poppy who has special needs She has a desperate need to have her own child, but after Kit lost Poppys birth mother in child birth he doesn't want any more children. One night when they are spending the night on their boat Poppy goes missing and neither parent can remember what happened. All eyes are on the parents and Neves dark past comes back to haunt her, while Kit tries to put the pieces together. A bit predictable and over the top but a mostly good story.

Thanks to Harper Collins UK and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased.

This was an ok thriller. I’d say middle of the road to be honest. Would I read another book by the author yes. Is it as good as the likes of Lucy Clarke and similar no.
