I still can’t determine how I feel about this book so I gave it 3 stars to kinda be in the middle but a little more towards a 5. I loved the concept of the book but I felt like it could have been so much better.
I wish there was more magic intertwined in the beginning of the book. And I also felt like the ending felt a little dull BUT was at least unexpected.

If it wasn't for how short the book was, I don't think I would've been able to finish it. Parts of the book seemed to be recreations of the movie "Knives Out", just with them being sorcerers instead of ordinary rich people. The characters were very flat, except Callum, who we didn't get introduced to early enough to understand the development from mean jock to friend fully. The final twist was surprising, but I wish it had a meatier ending, and didn't just turn into a three-page monologue.

Very utterly boring. Not at all like Knives Out meets The Inheritance Games. All together ok. The ending is anticlimactic and not at all satisfying.

I have a great time with Andrea Tang every single time! this is a charming murder mystery set in a world where magic exists but is kind of a normal job like any other arts-type job. so fun. love Andrea Tang.
