A terrific read, fast paced and full of tons of twists and turns. I think this was the most engrossed in a book I've been in some time. Well done, Mr. Coben!
This book captivated me from the start - there was a new twist and turn that kept my interest. I just had to know how this book ended!
I'm not sure what the big deal is about this book. I found it rather dull.

Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
This was just barely above average. I've only read a few of Coben's books and have never really been head over heels for him as a writer, but picked this one up after a coworker talked highly of it. I like the main character, he's a good blend smarts and abilities to make the story work, but he's hard to take seriously. Without giving too much away, I find any character that is a black and white, pillar of morals disappointing when they immediately embrace the world of gray areas without so much as a flinch. Sure the twists and turns are all tied into a neat bow as many of Coben's stories are...I just found this one hard to believe and yet utterly predictable. I know some people just love picking up novel after novel with incredible twists and turns that tie up like this, it's just not my thing.
Thoroughly enjoyed this mystery. Lots of twists and turns with just enough to keep you interested but not frustrated. Looking forward to finding more of his books.
I am a fan of Coben’s work and have read a few of his books, but I am sad to say this is not of the same caliber I expected. The book still had twist and turns but it was really drawn out and longer than it needed to be. It just came off as slowly paced and not that much excitement. It was also very unrealistic how obsessive the main character was with this person and it was apparent in almost every interview he had with another characters. He couldn’t really explain why he was obsessed with the matter and why he continued to look into it, and honestly I couldn’t either. The couple in question had a summer fling and then didn’t communicate for 6 years! Doesn’t seem like a reasonable ex would have went too into the weeds on this.
Overall it was a pretty good story. The one thing I really liked about it was the mystery, not knowing about the disappearance and fate of Jake's love, Natalie. This story was, in most part, totally unpredictable and full of strange twists and turns which I enjoy. But, where this book lost me was the large assortment of characters and names, both in the past and the present that were used and often flung around. The story became somewhat garbled toward the end trying to figure out who is who and the relevance of the person to the main story. Perhaps there could have been better character development with these secondary characters that played a major role and their connection to Natalie. In the end, it's a decent story, but one you must pay very close attention to otherwise you will get lost.
