Genuinely loved reading this with my 9 year old after full completion of the original series and movies. We both wished "Grumble the Grubby Goat" had been included. 😉 The balance of the sweet stories and Dumbledore's commentary was perfect.

I was somewhat disappointed in these stories, hoping that they would give me cozy feelings. But instead, I was left feeling slightly annoyed and confused. The morals of the stories were pretty weak and the notes from Dumbledore felt unnecessary. He pretty much summarizes the main ideas and "contextualizes" the story we read just moments ago, almost like he's holding our hand to understand what the message of the story was. Which is apparently something I struggled with. The strongest story was definitely The Three Brothers, but the others didn't have very clear lessons or the lessons can be interpreted as kind of problematic...? The illustrations were pretty nice though.

The hopping pot and babbitty rabbitty were probably my favorite ones, and of course the deathly hallows (though that was a bit obvious) I love how this book includes Dumbledore's notes, it's great seeing things through his POV specially when it includes his charismatic yet ostentatious way of saying things. (don't get me wrong, I loved it, it made me laugh so much in some parts)

Read it through Kindle unlimited but I will probably end up buying the physical copy for my own collection
