I enjoyed the first book more. It was too young-adult for me. I liked the representation in the book, but I got too frustrated with the over-the-top-angst of Athena's character. I also felt that the ending was too easy. I may or may not read the third book as there wasn't enough to peak my interest.

This series is fun and light and cute. I'll definitely keep reading them between Big Reads until I get bored. I struggled with this one a little because I was in waiting mode for the arrival of HOFAS and that made it hard to focus.

I really enjoyed this sequel to Accidental Magic, another cosy witchy mystery set in an idyllic image of the English countryside. It does suffer somewhat from my having read the first book then immediately reading this, as it is very, very similar in tone to the first volume. I am hoping to ration the rest of the books for myself, and hopefully increase my enjoyment!

The mystery aspect of the plot in interesting, if again a little shallow, and it was fun to see a little more of Athena and Dain's heritage and backstory as well as exploring more magic with Rosemary. The wider development of the world and Rosemary's growing relationships in the town is very, very slow and clearly to be explored further in the rest of the series.

Again, the book is a very short, sweet and somewhat shallow read but is perfect summer reading and a lovely cup of tea for the soul.
