This book was so much better than I was expecting! Mirielle West is a welthy woman, mother and wife, in Hollywood. She finds out she has leprosey, and her life is upended after already being upended. Mirielle is no stranger to tragedy. Her life has already been irreparbly damaged before she goes to the leper colony in Carville. Mirielle suffers a lot in this book, and the author lets it show. She doesn't hide what's ugly and sad, she doesn't hide what's good and beautiful, and sometimes it's not what you think.

Some of this book is predictible, but the things that happened that I wasn't expecting made up for it.

And story of leprosy aside, Amanda Skenandore did a phenomonial job of transporting me back to the 20s in so many ways.
