I understand that milk and honey is a very popular yet divisive book. I personally found the poetry in the book underwhelming. The line breaks seem to be placed randomly and feel like they exist just to give the text the appearance of a poem. There were a few lines sprawled across the pages that did make me pause and think but they were too surface level and did not explore the depth of abuse. Overall, it just feels like a gimmicky cash grab.

Did not realize what it would be talking about and was quite triggering.

I really enjoyed this collection of poems. It was raw and full of powerful comparisons, seemingly going through the pain of different relationship/sexuality-related stages. It had an emphasis on feminism and it was empowering and healing, bringing positivity and a healthy perspective on how to appreciate ourselves and how to support the ones around.

The style flows and it is natural, it just clicked with me, especially the verses. The illustrations are really emphasising the text. Overall, a really enjoyable and highly recommended read that I might come back to. I will check out more of this author's books.
