The Bay is the third novel in the Summer Suspense Mysteries series which is set in St Ives. Whilst they contain some of the characters from the previous books, each novel is a self contained story so can easily be read as standalones.

In this book we meet Sophie who works for the local police force and is fiercely independent. Due to a secret she has been keeping, she has never gotten close to anyone but she soon finds that to be a struggle with the handsome Gabriel, a newcomer, and who has his eyes set on her.

Whilst there is the start of something romantic, well as a reader we hope, the discovery of a body adds an air of mystery as to who it is and why they were killed. I really enjoyed the investigation as well as the growing working relationship between Sophie and her partner Turner who maybe a bit of a rookie, but he has a lot of heart.

The Bay was another great read in the series with its idyllic setting and the mix of suspense and a romance on the cards. The characters are likeable and the mystery element had me glued to the pages. I’m really enjoying the books in this series by the author and am hoping there is more to come. I love that you get to meet new characters with previous ones in the background so they can be enjoyed by new or existing readers. An entertaining and gripping read!
