Fun but really long. Listened as audiobook - really quite a long journey. I think I would have enjoyed more if I read it as I tuned out a few times during the narration.

It's a little drawn out, though I liked the world building enough.

It's pretty fucked that Curtis stays in the Wildwood & Prue lets them believe he just died.

Nope. Very disappointing fantasy. Comparisons to Narnia or other classics a huge mistake. Hits all the troupes but the characters are flat & unengaging. I plodded diligently through the first of the trilogy waiting for the magic lift-off but will not waste anymore time on this over-written excuse for a coming of age real time fantasy novel when there are so many really wonderful authors & adventures to explore.

Spokojnie mogłaby być krótsza, bo sporo się wynudziłam. W porównaniu z innymi dziecięcymi książkami, nie oczarowała mnie tak klimatem i humorem. Nie czuję się zachęcona do dalszych tomów...

Pretty intense for a young adult book imo! I got this at Powell’s a couple years ago, excited by the nature themes and local author, however I only made it ~100 pages in before giving up. I restarted it this week as something brainless to read when I couldn’t muster enough energy to focus on the books I’m actually interested in, and got through it pretty quickly. The ~pnw vibes~ aesthetic was strong, but I didn’t hate the story, although it had a lot more violence than most books I read. I wouldn’t say I recommend it, but the illustrations are fantastic so that was cool!!
