Whew this book!

i love it when authors make book 2 even better than the first. i have so many emotions right now. i do have to say this book won’t be enjoyable for those who don’t understand the brains responses to trauma and those who never been sheltered. i see a common theme in negative comments talking about the choices Orlaith has made and the answer to all those is very simple. this is her FIRST TIME going out into the real world. she leaves her home and the protection of her safety line. And we see her learn about harsh realities of the world. think of the dumb decisions you’ve made as a teenager, that’s literally Orlaith right now. She wants to secure the ships so that her life has meaning! she’s seeking a purpose. To her, no matter what, she has to make sure Cainon is pleased with her and that way the ships can be sent to save people in Ocruth. What she doesn’t see is that Cainon is a horrible person and most likely won’t send shit even after their coupling. It was very clear to me that Cainon couldn’t be trusted and i knew almost immediately back in book 1 when we got to know him. idk why some people thought that they were endgame. like it was so obvious to me that he’s just a narcissistic tyrant. anyway, Orlaith is still naive and is learning about herself and the people around her. if she’s going into her villain era, i’m ALL here for it!!! After the hot and steamy scene with Rhordyn, and her giving him payback that was just delicious!!!! even tho i wanted more obviously, but good for her!!! Orlaith is getting a back bone in this book and she’s only getting stronger. i’m excited to see what will happen in the next book. especially after that ending!!! i refuse to believe what just happened!! idk if it was a calculated move by Cainon. . . that conniving little bitch.

i do enjoy a nonrealiable narrator and it keeps me on my toes, like what do i see that she isn’t seeing? I love Parker’s writing! Orlaith’s development is so near and dear to my heart. She is going to bloom into a beautiful and strong person by the end of this series.

also, let me take a moment to talk about Kai

So this had a lot more action and some of your questions get answered but more towards the end. It was still a bit whiplash-y for me and still has me confused. I feel like I would be less confused if I read what the book was about and the glossary so do that if you are reading this series

There’s more character development and it’s good but some parts make you want to be like

HELP
🆘 🛟
SOMEBODY SEDATE ME
OR PLEASE THROW ME SOMETHING I CAN HOLD ON TO

I finally flatlined after going through too much rollercoaster rides 🎢🫀

THE PAIN IS REAL.
This is heartache and torture page after page after page 🥲

Orlaith is spiralling in her own identity crisis and I just want to hug her tight and tell her everything is gonna be alright even though it could all get worse before it gets better 🌱💦✨❤️‍🩹 You go girl, do what you need to do to save yourself, I’ll back you up anytime, anywhere, for whatever you need, boo 🫶🏻🗡️

Rhordyn is still shady but somehow also less shady 🤷🏼‍♀️ and throws cute things at our face sometimes, but when we expect it the least and with some back stabbing pain right after 🫠 that dude is clearly a BDSM adept ⛓️

Kai is the best sidekick 🐉 he’s Flounder but in a hot, sexy and wild way 🥹

Let’s dive into the third book and keep feeling the pain 💔
