WTF.  The first book confused me and this one just straight up was a cluster fuck of conflicting emotion instead of anything resembling a story.

Nothing made sense.  Everything was random.  The FMC just sucks.  Like, truly sucks.  The MMC tried t9 be redeeming but failed.

I can't understand why we had to veer off into the supporting cast's storylines because they added nothing to the overarching story.

Even the spice ended up being choatic.  And honestly it all felt really red flag but not in a sexy way.

I won't be finishing this series.  The end of this book pissed me off and the only reason you might call it a cliffhanger isn't cuz you have to know what happens next, but you have no earthly clue what could happen next because nothing makes sense.

I wish I had DNF'd it.

There is a good chance that I did not understand the majority of what was happening. I wish I learned about the species earlier. Be prepared for

Ugh what the heck. Again, writing is beautiful, plot is confusing as hell. Main FMC is annoying and childish with literally no growth to. She’s an idiot and a child and for five second I thought we would learn more about her but nope, she was too busy being irritating and annoying. I stuck through because the ending actually did stress me out and I’ve started the third book but over all this has been an exhausting read for me.

I love love loved it. Reminds me of Plated Prisoner series, where we get to see such a sheltered naive girl grow to be a stronger woman (I mean she's still a mess but we're - hopefully - getting there?). Kai's storyline was so good I didn't even get annoyed when we flipped to it. Hate Cainon but I feel like that's the point.

Only took the .5 off because I feel like, although we were working up to Orlaith convincing herself to hate Rhordyn, her actions at the end of the book didn't ring completely true for me. We'll see how book 3 goes!

This series is so rich in internal monologue imagery. The flower and foliage. SAP does this so consistently. She also doesn’t back down from putting her characters through the wringer, physically, mentally AND emotionally.

This is a self discovery book, for sure. Book 1 was such a narrowly focused book. With the only setting being the castle and watching the FMC strain against herself and her fallbacks.

Book 2 opens everyone’s eyes to the bigger fantasy world and it’s such an interesting one. Learning about the world along with the FMC is interesting and something SAP is very intentional with. However I felt that so many of the characters were fairly inconsistent from book 1 to 2… which was disappointing.

But the angst is at an all time high, throughout the entire book.

This had the biggest cliffhanger ending. I finished at 1am and immediately had to start book 3.
