i really loved most of the stories. the ones that were great i really really, there were maybe two boring stories and two that i honestly absolutely hated and those two are the only reason why i didn't give this book a full 5 stars. but i still definitely recommend this!! i love how some stories were just lighthearted and cute while others could be really emotional.
Graphic: Suicide
Moderate: Homophobia, Sexual harassment, Sexual content, Toxic relationship, and Racism

When I first picked this up at the library, I scanned the list of authors that were featured in this collection. A few names stood out while others were not familiar to me. While that might deter others, for me, it only drove me further to put this higher on my tbr goal. I started reading this while news broke out that @cynthiaerivo was casted in Wicked. It got me thinking that the world is hopefully, finally learning to open their eyes and embracing the natural casting of bipoc. This novel is more than just a gathering of stories with black boys and girls taking center stage. It’s showing the world that characters of color deserve to exit and shine just as much as anyone else. We as a book community are quick to promote the next big buzz (& I’m equally guilty of this) but we as a community also can (&need) to do better at highlighting stories that embrace everyday stories showcasing people of color as naturally as we do for example From Blood and Ash & Colleen Hoover books.
Moderate: Sexual assault, Homophobia, Lesbophobia, Child death, Death, Abandonment, and Toxic relationship
