My Thoughts Exactly by Lily Allen

It's lily's world & we're all living in it, or at least that's how she seems to sees it.
Prep yourself for a lot of self sabotage, a lot of self indulgence, & just a lot of "self" in general.

Lily admits to being a narcissist. It's honestly cool that she can admit to something like that, but doesn't take away the feeling of reading a memoir written by a narcissist. She floats from mess to mess, creating many of them herself & rarely reflecting on how her destructive behavior affected others.

There were a few redeemable parts. She has some funny jokes. Plus, her talking voice is nice, not sure I would've made it through had her accent not have been reading aloud to me. Anyway, I hope she's happy now with David Harbour. I love him.

An excellent, insightful autobiography. Her voice is strong, raw, certain, and - most importantly - hers. Her criticism & analyses of the media, music industry, stardom, societal standards, and herself & her own judgements, actions and privileges make a very honest read.

I have grown up with the music of Lily Allen and have loved every one of her albums. I always felt like she was also growing with them. Now reading about what her life was really like and what the music meant to her, makes listening to it so much more special. Definitely recommend it to anyone who knows her music, but also to people who have never heard of her. It’s such a heartfelt account of life behind the scenes.

Lily Allen is very honest and logical in her book. She is, in my opinion, a very intelligent person and very self-aware. Reading this book made me think about different concepts: that the grass isn't always greener on the other side, to be aware of how you are acting and be understanding of other people's behaviour. We never know what's going on in someone's life or head, and it's important to realise that we should be understanding and kind to eachother. The book itself is easy to read, it is funny at parts and will definitely make you think. I loved it, and I'm seeing Lily Allen in concert in December so now I feel extra excited knowing that she writes all of her songs herself and that they represent what she has gone through or how she was feeling at a certain period in her life!

I listened to the audiobook on my library's app, and it is Lily herself reading it.

I was an early fan of hers, and always liked her music, but I don't think I ever knew just how much she had going on in her life. She's obviously had a very challenging life and while she talks very candidly about the mistakes she made, it makes for difficult reading/listening at times knowing just how many poor decisions someone can make. There aren't many happy moments, and Lily's reading is very monotonous, so if anyone picks up the bright yellow book thinking it's going to be exciting and upbeat, they may be in for a bit of a shock.

I really hope in 10 years' time Lily is able to write a follow up with how she's found peace.

Have always appreciated Lily Allen’s honesty through her music. Her memoir is more of the same. It’s always good to read about women and their imperfections.

After reading half of it I still don’t get the hype. To me it feels a lot like name dropping and nepobaby-ism.

I really struggled to get through this. I don’t know if it was the writing that just didn’t work for me but it took me a hot minute to finish this.
