So many books that discuss healing from a spiritual perspective end up sending a victim-blaming, prosperity gospel, "if you can't think your way out of being chronically ill, you're doing it wrong" message.

Not Rebel Healing.

Noëlle Janka writes from her own perspective as a person dealing with chronic illness, connects that perspective to the pain and sickness caused by living under systems of oppression, and suggests — always suggests, never prescribes! — steps the reader can take toward their personal and collective healing.

If you've been on a healing journey for as long as I have, you will already be familiar with many of the points in Rebel Healing, but I still learned many new practices that can help me soothe my nervous system and bring my actions in alignment with my ideals. Also, the structure of the book -- connecting personal healing with collective liberation -- is one I haven't encountered, so even familiar concepts are presented in a new way.

Throughout the book, Janka also points the reader to further resources - books, videos, articles - for any subject that she touches on where you may want to go more in depth.

Whether you've been healing for a long time or are just starting to come to terms with your need for a healing journey, I recommend you give Rebel Healing a read.
