I know I read this years ago but re-read it tonight in preparation for our Polar Express storytime tomorrow. Can't wait to share it with everyone tomorrow.
One of the loveliest reads for Christmas season with a beautiful ending! I do have a soft spot for illustrated fantasy books and children's books overall. This one is filled with so much emotion that adults should also read and never forget about the beauty of childhood innocence and magic.
“At one time, most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed, it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I've grown old, the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe.”

The heart of Christmas
I have watched this at least 50+ times- my son is obssessed!
The Polar Express has always been one of my favorite Christmas movies and so I finally decided it was time to read the book. It was just as cute and magically as the movie. Though, I could be biased because I love the movie so much, but oh well.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this story. The pictures are spectacular and it's a beautiful message about believing. The movie is also FANTASTIC! I just adore listening to some of the music in the film and admiring Tom Hanks' as an incredibly talented actor.

I remember watching the movie of this book many years ago. I wasn’t overly taken with it from memory and I certainly didn’t realise that it was a book. I only picked this book up for a challenge I was trying to fulfill regarding reading a book set in snow. When I read the book I found that I much preferred the book to the movie. It’s a really sweet story about a boy who had a wonderful journey on a train called The Polar Express which took him to the North Pole where the town pulled out all the stops to celebrate Christmas. The boy learns about the meaning of Christmas, friendship, and bravery. The pictures were really great and very well done and just added to the story. I don’t reread many books but this one I would certainly consider rereading. I really enjoyed the story.

The ending gutted me. When his sister stopped hearing the bell? Too depressing.
