“Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can't see.”
Oh, yes. Such a wonderful story. It's the first time I've read it, but I loved the movie when it came out. The movie, of course, is quite different but I really enjoyed this short, lovely story about childhood, both as a child and an adult, and the power of belief.

Read this to my children and they love it. Its not too long that they lose interest and they love looking for for Santa as we get closer to the North Pole.
It's a classic Christmas story that kids willbpove again and again. I also was picturing the movie most of the time. I see that they made a great book-to-movie adaptation.

A simple story, beautifully illustrated, that has me in tears by the last page. It is best read on Christmas Eve.
I love it, but it's long. Would be a good read aloud for middle school. Caldecott winner in 1986
