Such a beautiful book and if you haven't read it then you definitely need too! I mean the movie is good; however, I think that to get the true experience of the Polar Express you should also read the book. : )
I saw the movie and was not impressed by it but I was able to get Liam Neeson's audio version and the story was really cute.

I bought this book when it first came out and was enchanted by the story and the beautiful illustrations. I read it to my children and grandchild, and now read it to myself every year. (I don't care for the movie -- I think it loses the magic of the simple story)

So, I don't say this very often, but the movie is better. It's more thematically interesting, and lifts the strong foundation of the book while imposing more nuanced and intriguing themes of belief.
