Masterfully written with lots of detail about Georgian society, this is slightly disappointing for someone who loved 'The Five'. As a contrast to the empathy that book displayed towards the female protagonists, I felt Rubenhold sometimes joined in with the salacious and judgemental tone of contemporary writing about Lady Worsley. Perhaps she deliberately wanted to avoid any historical romance connotations, which is something you see in these histories.
